ICSB in the noughties (2000 - 2010)

We hope that these first months of the new decade find you all healthy, happy, prosperous, fulfilled and thriving, both professionally and personally.
As we write this introductory part, we are in an especially beautiful place down under in the southern hemisphere, enjoying the warmth, the wind, the blue sky and some time outside a class room.
We just finished a month long training with people in Western Australia and we loved it. We reconnected with many old friends and met new, wonderful people, who practice the art of craniosacral work.
We have a deep connection to the land and people in Australia and feel honored to be invited back to continue the profound explorations of the work, which are possible, when people are open and available for new directions and guidance.
The world-wide community of craniosacral practitioners is expanding and the feeling of being connected across space and time is an experienced reality, which we enjoy thoroughly.
As you know, we – Kavi and Bhadrena – have travelled often and far as ambassadors of craniosacral biodynamics with all its aspects. But it is thanks to all of you that the work is really spreading into all the communities and into every day life of people. We deeply appreciate all of you, your work and your enthusiasm and dedication that make this expansion possible.
With this newsletter we would like to give you a short account of our life with craniosacral biodynamics in the decade of the 2000s and also acknowledge the new beginnings in the new decade.
We would like to start in reminiscence of events past, both on a personal and professional level and add a preview for upcoming events and new programs.

Personal

Bhadrena and Kavi
We have worked in countries of Europe, North America, India, Far East and the Southern hemisphere. We intended to spread the biodynamic perspective and we developed many programs to support the biodynamic work.

The first decade of the 21st century, saw us getting married, buying a small house in Tuscany and diving deeply into the pre- and perinatal world. Kavi trained to become an Osteopath and fulfilled his dream to work with James Jealous. Bhadrena has rediscovered her passion for photography. Most of the pictures in our newsletters are from her.

And finally, another project coming to its completion: We have developed a webpage for us, Kavi and Bhadrena, only, so that our work is represented on the web independently from the website for ICSB. It is now available in English (German and Italian will follow). Visit:

www.essential-being.org

Margaretha
Margaretha Tschumi-Witschi has stepped into the shoes of our administrator, organizer and office person more than 12 years ago. It was in a moment of emergency, when the Institute really needed her support to continue.
In the past decade this support and her presence in the home office in Switzerland have been unwavering, exceptional and beyond the call of duty.
We want to express our gratitude for her continuous cooperation and presence. As Bhadrena’s mom she is juggling the office, a house and garden, orchid cultivation, two cats, a husband, sick relatives and many more aspects of a full life.
She is a force unto herself and with her energy level and her dedication to the Institute she is an invaluable asset to our organization and precious to our hearts.

Rahi and Anugiten
Rahi and Anugiten have taken care of the international address list since 1992. It was work done out of abundance and generosity. An international address management has its challenges and they added great quality, maintained it with care and over 18 years were devoted to maintain its excellence. Thank you from the depth of our heart for a great cooperation and a very special friendship over so many years.
In June 2009 Anugiten and Rahi let go of this part of their work, to have more time to dedicate to their craniosacral practice and the specialized workshops with horses: hippo-craniosacral-balancing. See www.cranio-kelm.de We will present the changes in the address management later in this newsletter.

Homage to Dhurva
On a more sad note:
A dear friend and colleague, Dhurva Hiromi Morikawa, left her body on Sept. 14, 2009.
The community in Japan and people, who knew her from the trainings in Pune, India, were deeply affected by her death.
We added a link for everybody, who likes to remember her in words and photos on our webpage.

Completion

In 2009 we completed several programs:

  • the first pilot project of the pediatric training with 36 people
  • a 3-year foundation training in Pune, India
  • the first 2year foundation training in Prague, Czech Republic
  • a foundation training in Italy and Switzerland
  • a foundation training in France with Agàta Holliger as teacher

Soon to be completed:

  • the first foundation training of ICSB in Vancouver, Canada
  • in Japan the students are preparing for the final exams

All these practitioners add to the network of craniosacral biodynamic practitioners worldwide. The final projects of all graduates are available for download on our webpage. If you are a practitioner with ICSB, you will have the password.

We congratulate all graduates of all programs to the completion of their requirements. The amount of time, energy, dedication, research, practice and self-exploration all of you put into finishing your training is amazing and very gratifying. Well done!

Pioneering the biodynamic approach - development of new teaching programs in the last decade

In the last decade we have worked towards an understanding of biodynamics on many levels, reorganizing, reorienting and deepening biodynamics for many students and practitioners.
We developed a comprehensive foundation training and kept updating it to its present form. We created an interesting postgraduate program with a myriad of different subjects:

  • One drop that knows the ocean - the transparency of the Fluid Body
  • Living embryology
  • Trauma resolution
  • Repair of early imprints and trauma
  • The phoenix from the ashes – the tidal body and the Long Tide
  • Neutral as a portal to the creative forces of health
  • Form and Function, structural and visceral work: osteopathic principles and biodynamics
  • The stillness of the heart fulcrum – the embryonic heart field
  • The path to essence: a comprehensive work with the original Self

We designed trainings and courses for the benefit of healthy development and relating, to strengthen bonding and attachment:

  • Baby course, introduction to the work with the little ones and their support systems
  • Process workshops – pre- and perinatal explorations
  • Pediatrics and pre- and perinatal therapy
  • Being and Becoming – a series of courses to explore our origins

Development of new brochures and webpages

To develop new designs, new webpages, new brochures is a daunting endeavor. It was a long intense cooperation with graphic designers, webmasters and printers to get it just right. We wanted to be sure that our work will be represented appropriately and adequately. Probably we soon have to restart this process for the new decade.

New address management

We have designed a new, innovative address management. New features:

  • our practitioners can now add a private and a practice address to their profile.
  • it is possible to receive the postal mail on one address and be listed in the practitioner list on another address.
  • e-mail and webpage are newly listed in the practitioner list.
  • self-correction of address: Periodically we will send you a link to update your address.

It might be possible that some fine tuning is still needed and that some data got lost in the transfer from the former program. We ask for patience and forgiveness until all bugs are removed and all ripples ironed out. Let us know, if your address or your status needs correction.

The next decade - preview

The ICSB is fully committed to continue to spread the work in its many facets. There are no limits to this approach and we look forward to new developments - ever unfolding.

Postgraduate Program
All of our continuous education programs are listed on our webpage. These advanced courses are open to all practitioners.

Switzerland
This year we offer courses in embryology and visceral work:

  • The stillness of the heart fulcrum
  • The constellation of the viscera

Italy
We deepen the understanding and clinical work with the fluid body:

  • The transparency of the fluid body

Japan
We add understanding of the embryological development of the heart and its function at the center of the heart field:

  • The heart field

Process Workshops (PW)
Seminars in pre- and perinatal explorations will be offered on a continuous basis. The PW facilitates a personal inquiry of preverbal experiences, which influence our life today. The format of a small group of 7 people in a safe setting allows time and space to explore an individual process. If some people want to apply as a whole group, we will do our best to accommodate you. A “womb-surround” environment is created, where early imprints and trauma can be looked at with support, guidance and in safety. Patterns can shift, repair can happen and relating becomes easier. In addition to offering support for the resolution of prenatal, birth and early trauma, this process has the main intention of encouraging loving bonding within primary relationships.

Craniosacral pediatrics
The pilot course in the pediatric series in Switzerland is successfully completed. After careful evaluation, we start with two new series of 6 seminars (28 days):

At the moment this is our jewel in the crown. It allows us to work with all of our skills and competences, integrating all aspects of “Being and Becoming” into a program, which serves all practitioners to work therapeutically not only with babies, but also to improve the capacity to be with the process of the adult clients.

Practitioner Registrations

With this newsletter (when it is sent out in paper form), you also receive the new registration form for 2010 - 2011 to sign up for next year’s registry. So far we cannot offer an automatized electronic sign-up process, but we welcome individual registrations via e-mail.

NEW: As a new feature, we can now receive payment of the practitioner registration fee via paypal.
This is especially interesting for international practitioners to avoid extra bank fees. Send us an e-mail, if you intend to pay via paypal: info@icsb.ch

You can register

  • as a student
  • as a practitioner to be listed in the referral list
  • as a tutor, if you have the necessary requirements
  • as a person interested to receive the postal mail
  • as a support person for the ICSB

This offer for our students and graduates is a service to strengthen the network and make practitioners accessible to people looking for sessions with a craniosacral practitioner.

The international list can be downloaded from the web. Since it has become huge, it would be too big a package to send via postal mail.

To end this newsletter, we’d like to share with you some verses, which we discovered in a biodynamic vineyard, the Cullen Winery, Wilyabrup, Margaret River, WA, Australia:

If you want to reach the infinite,
go deeply into every aspect of the finite.

If you want to refresh yourself in wholeness
you need to discover the whole in the most minute details of things.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

With these words, which symbolize the biodynamic point of view in a beautiful way already centuries ago, we sign off and send you many blessings, greetings, good health and much love.
